Welcome to openCITT. This is a work in progress to create an (as the name implies) open car-infotainment-system including any of those cool features like multimedia, GPS-navigation (using map data from the OpenStreetMap project), Bluetooth mobile phone connection, mobile internet connectivity and so on.
AboutopenCITT car infotainment system is intended to drive your car-pc providing a powerful and versatile, yet intuitivly controlled, user interface to give you easy access to all the features a car-pc based car infotainment system may provide. openCITT car infotainment system is done as a hobby and made available under open source license to share it with other enthusiasts around the world. It does not (maybe yet) either claim to be usable in any way, nor to be a professional project in any way. openCITT car infotainment system is freely available, licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2. For a short overview of the current features have a look at the screenshots section, i.e. current Navi Screenshot. If you are interested in openCITT car infotainment system also check http://sourceforge.net/projects/opencitt At the moment openCITT is a one-man-show. If you like it's ideas, please take a look at Get Involved to see how you can help improve openCITT. No matter if you are able to help implement new features, do some translations, create documentation, extend this wiki, help improve design or just spread the word... everyone interested is welcome. Post at one of openCITT Mailing Lists to get your questions answered. Getting startedDocumentation - Read the mini-docu
HardwareopenCITT does not only consist of the pure in-car-infotainment application for your car-pc. It also covers a hardware project section dedicated at providing embedded extension modules, i.e. utilizing openNNGP protocol to act as data aquisition frontends, human interface controllers and so on. For example there is an battery supervisor module project which is intended to provide accurate starter battery condition analysis based on a trained artificial neural network. See Hardware section for more details.
Off TopicBreaking News: openCITT sponsored online multiplayer game 'RaceStockExchange Game' launched season 2010. Everyone interested in online stock exchange games with motorsports-backgroung is invited to be part of it. Design ContestWe definitely need a nice Logo for openCITT. So if you feel like you have the right idea for a nice openCITT Logo feel free to upload it to this wiki and link it to the Design Contest page.
